FAQ
How we rate brands, how we are funded, how to verify a Gambling Commission licence without taking our word for it, and where to get free help.
About PixelCrown
PixelCrown is a UK-focused editorial publication that reviews online casino brands licensed by the Gambling Commission. We were established in 2026 and we operate from London. We do not accept deposits, we do not hold customer funds, and we do not offer anything to wager on. Every review is written by a person, published under our own name, and dated so you can see how current it is.
Through affiliate commission. When you follow one of our outbound brand links and go on to open an account, the operator may pay us a fee. That fee is paid by the operator, never by you, and it does not change the terms you are offered. Commission has no bearing on scores or rankings, and we publish the full arrangement on our Disclosure page.
Our outbound brand links are commercial. Our rankings are not for sale. No operator can buy a position, a score, an award or a change to a published verdict. If a brand asks us to alter a rating in exchange for a better commercial rate, we decline and we note the approach in the review. Everything we earn from is marked as an advertisement or a sponsored link.
Reviews & ratings
Five weighted criteria: licensing and consumer safety (30%), welcome offer fairness (20%), banking and withdrawals (20%), library depth and fairness (15%), and support and interface (15%). The full method, including what we look for in each category, is published on our How We Rate page. Scores are editorial opinion; licensing data is verified fact.
Open the Gambling Commission public register, search the licensee name or account number, and confirm the status reads Active and that the brand you are looking at appears in the domain-names list for that account. Every review on PixelCrown links directly to the relevant register entry so you can do this in one click. If a brand cannot be matched to an active UK licence, do not deposit with it.
Because we would rather publish two reviews we can stand behind than forty we cannot. Each brand we list has been matched to a named licensee on the public register, and each review is revisited on a fixed schedule. We add brands as we finish the work, not as commercial arrangements arrive.
Licensing data is re-checked against the public register at least quarterly, and immediately if we are told a licence status has changed. Commercial detail such as offer terms moves faster than we can publish, so every review carries a "last checked" date and tells you to confirm current terms on the operator's own website before you commit.
We pull the outbound link the same day, add a notice to the top of the review explaining what changed, and keep the page online rather than quietly deleting it. Readers deserve to see the correction, not a dead URL.
Using UK casinos safely
GamStop is the free national self-exclusion scheme for Great Britain. One request blocks you from every operator licensed by the Gambling Commission for a period you choose — six months, one year or five years — and it cannot be reversed early. If you feel your gambling is no longer a choice you are making freely, GamStop is the single most effective step available to you, and it takes a few minutes.
No. Credit-card deposits for gambling have been prohibited across Great Britain since 14 April 2020. Any brand that still offers one to a UK customer is not operating within the rules, and that alone is reason enough to close the tab. Debit cards, Apple Pay, PayPal and bank transfer remain available.
UK licensees are required to verify your age and identity before you deposit, and to verify address before releasing significant withdrawals. It is a licence condition, not an obstacle invented to delay your money. Submitting clear photo ID and a recent utility bill or bank statement at sign-up rather than at withdrawal is the single easiest way to avoid a hold-up.
A deposit limit caps what you can pay in per day, week or month. Under UK rules a tightened limit takes effect straight away, while a loosened one is deliberately slow. A reality check is a timed on-screen reminder telling you how long you have been logged in and how you stand. Both are free, both are in account settings, and both are worth setting on day one rather than after a bad evening.
No. Losses are not recoverable, no strategy changes the mathematics, and anyone promising otherwise is selling you something. Every casino product is built with a house edge, which means the expected long-run result for the customer is a loss. Treat any money you stake as already spent on entertainment.
The National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133, open 24 hours a day, every day. BeGambleAware runs live chat and self-assessment tools. Gamblers Anonymous holds free fellowship meetings across the UK, in person and online. GamStop will block your access to every UKGC-licensed operator. None of these cost anything, and none of them require you to have hit a crisis first.
